Frequently asked questions
Everything about sleeping at altitude, rental, delivery and safety. Question not listed? Get in touch.
Rental
How much does renting an altitude tent cost?
Rental starts at 125 euro per week, including tent, altitude generator, delivery, installation, personal instruction, oximeter and support. No hidden costs. We advise the duration that fits your goal.
Does the altitude generator make noise?
The generator produces a constant, low noise level comparable to a quiet fan. It sits next to the bed or in an adjacent room; most customers get used to it within a few nights.
Can my partner sleep next to me?
Yes. There are tent models for double beds (queen and king). Anyone who does not want to sleep at altitude can use a regular bed next to it.
Can I cancel my reservation?
You pay nothing in advance and can cancel free of charge until delivery. Payment takes place at delivery.
Programme
How long should I rent to see an effect?
Count on 4 to 6 weeks for noticeable adaptation. For expeditions above 6,000 m we recommend 5 to 8 weeks. We match your rental period to your departure or race date: you choose the end date, we count back.
When do I stop sleeping at altitude before my race?
Athletes usually stop 7 to 10 days before their peak race so the body is fully recovered. Mountaineers keep sleeping at altitude until just before departure so the acclimatisation is as fresh as possible.
Delivery
How does delivery work?
We deliver and install at home in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, and by appointment across Europe. You get personal instruction at installation and an oximeter to track your SpO₂. After your programme we collect the system.
Safety
Is sleeping at altitude safe?
Yes. Only the oxygen percentage is lowered (normobaric hypoxia), not the air pressure. You build up gradually based on your SpO₂ values with personal guidance. An altitude tent is not a medical device. If you have a medical condition (heart, lungs) or are pregnant, consult your doctor first.
Science
What is a good SpO₂ value in the altitude tent?
Measure your oxygen saturation every morning. At 94% or higher raise the altitude, between 90 and 93% hold (the optimal adaptation zone), at 89% or lower reduce the altitude.
Buying
Can I buy after renting?
Yes. Rent first, buy later: 50% of your rental amount is deducted from the purchase invoice of your system.
