Tom Veelers: "Via my height tent to the Tour de France"

Top cyclists put themselves in the spotlight in the Tour de France. The Tour de France is, after the Olympic Games, the 2nd largest sporting event in the world. Dutchman makes stages in the sprint stages Tom Veelers (28) strongly committed to winning a stage win for his German teammate Marcel Kittel.

Every success has its story and in the magazine Twente Sport Tom tells about his preparations for the Tour de France where he also slept in his high altitude tent.

In camping at a height tent at home?

Hardly anyone knows that Tom and, of necessity, his partner Susan Stevelink regularly go on altitude training courses in their bedroom in Oldenzaal, the Netherlands. Tom is always very motivated in his work. Recently, we started sleeping in an altitude tent on a regular basis. It is placed around the bed. We camp in our own bedroom. Tom then does an altitude training in his own bedroom', says Stevelink.

Who is Tom Veelers?

Tom Veelers, born in Ootmarsum (14-09-1984) is a Dutch cyclist.

Tom made his debut as an amateur under the care of coach Han Vaanhold in the Löwik Meubelen-Tegeltoko team. After two seasons, he switched to the Rabobank training team at Nico Verhoeven, where he further developed as a rider. In 2008, Tom made his debut with the pros at the Skil-Shimano formation, starting in 2012 Argos Shimano called.
